The city of Hangzhou is one of the most visited holiday destinations in china. The planning area Binjiang, about 37 sqkm in size, is located at a unique place along the Qiantang river between the well-known West Lake and the White Horse Lake.

 It was the main planning target of SBA to develop a new, creative and modern international town district out of the existing High-Tech Industrial Park, in which education, economy, living and leisure are combined in a sensitive way. The given geological situation of small bays and hills was adapted into the concept and formed out by urban design and landscape changes. The vision behind the development was the creation of a “CREATIVE BAY CITY”.
The existing structures were reorganized and the whole city especially the economic areas, were upgraded enormously.
A new concerted use mix breaks up with the existing separation of functions. The new center combines the surrounding areas to a integrated, sustainable “Riverside Park”, in which land, energy and other resources were used spare & effective.
